A design-build company, not a mow-and-go crew
Larkin Landscape and Design is a design-build outdoor contractor based in the Des Moines metro. One company plans and builds the whole yard: the hardscaping that gives it structure, the landscaping that brings it to life, and the snow and ice control that keeps it usable in January.
That range is the point. When the crew that sets your patio base also plants your beds and wires your path lights, nothing gets lost between trades and nobody points a finger at the last contractor. You get one plan, one estimate, and one team accountable for the finished yard.

Designed before we dig
Every project starts the same way: a walk around your yard and a free, written estimate. You tell us how you want to use the space, we look at grades, drainage, access, and what the Iowa freeze-thaw cycle will try to do to it, and you get a number in writing before anything is scheduled.
Qualifying full projects then get our design-first process: a free, scaled 2D plan that maps patios, walls, beds, and lighting on paper. You revise the drawing, not poured concrete. When the plan is right, we order materials, build in a planned sequence from base prep to finish grading, and close with a final walkthrough.
The build standards do not change with the project size. Excavated bases, compacted aggregate, and drainage designed in are how we build hardscape to stand up to Iowa winters, and they are why we can put a 10-year warranty behind the hardscape work. Qualifying full projects start with a free, scaled 2D plan of the whole yard. Revisions happen on paper, where they cost nothing.
10-Year Hardscape Warranty
Hardscape work, including retaining walls, is warrantied for a decade because the bases and drainage under it are built for freeze-thaw.
