Snow & Ice Control Removal in Iowa City
Residential and commercial snow and ice control across the Des Moines metro and Central Iowa. When it snows, you want a local crew that shows up. That is the part homeowners keep thanking us for.
Snow and ice control for the Des Moines metro
Larkin Landscape and Design keeps driveways, lots, and walks clear through the winter. The same owner-led crew that builds and plants your yard in the warm months is the one plowing and de-icing it once the snow starts, so you are working with people who already know your property.
Winter in Central Iowa is not one big storm, it is a whole season of them, plus the freeze-and-thaw days in between that turn a wet driveway into a sheet of ice overnight. A good snow plan handles both the plowing and the ice, and it gets set up before the first flake so you are not scrambling for a crew the morning of a storm.
We serve homes and businesses across the Des Moines metro and Central Iowa, and we have handled snow out toward Iowa City as well. Residential driveways and commercial lots are two different jobs with different timing and equipment, and we scope and price each one to match what the property needs.
Residential snow removal
For homeowners, it comes down to a clear driveway and a safe walk to the door without you having to be out there with a shovel before work. We set up service for your property and clear it after the snow falls, so a big overnight storm becomes our problem to solve instead of yours.
-
Driveways cleared
Plowed and cleared so you can get in and out.
-
Front walks and steps
A safe path to the door for you and anyone who visits.
-
Ice control
De-icing on the surfaces that turn slick after a thaw and refreeze.
-
Prompt response after a snowfall
The thing our winter reviews mention most.
Commercial snow and ice control
For businesses and property managers, a clear lot is a safety and liability question. We handle the parking, the walks, and the entrances so your customers and staff have somewhere safe to park and walk. A slip in an icy lot is exactly the kind of thing a plowed lot and a de-iced walk are meant to prevent.
-
Parking lots plowed
Cleared and stacked so spaces stay usable.
-
Sidewalks and entrances
The walking surfaces people actually touch, kept clear.
-
De-icing
Ice management on lots and walks through freeze-thaw swings.
-
One local crew
The same team all winter, not a rotating cast.
The advantage of a landscaper who plows your driveway
There is a real difference between a plow that has never seen your yard and a crew that built it. Because we design and install landscapes all summer, we know where your beds, edging, and lighting sit under the snow. We know which side of a driveway to stack snow so it does not crush a planting bed or bury a walkway you will want clear again in the spring.
That is the kind of thing you only get from a company that works your property in every season. Snow is not a side gig we bolted on. It is how we keep taking care of the yards we build, straight through the winter, and it is why so many of our summer clients keep us on through the cold months too.

How to get on the winter schedule
The easiest time to arrange snow service is before the first storm. Tell us where the property is and what needs clearing, the driveway and walk at home, or the lot, walks, and entrances at a business, and we will put together a plan and a quote for the season.
If you are looking further out, winter is also when we plan spring work. A lot of clients we plow for in January are the same ones we are back with in April for hardscaping and outdoor projects. When you are ready, request a snow and ice quote and we will get your property on the list, and we can walk you through seasonal contract pricing for the winter.
